Deanna Midori Saelee, LMHC
Hi, I’m Deanna—a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University – Seattle, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Eastern Washington University.
I bring over 15 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families, with a strong commitment to serving underserved communities. Much of my clinical work has focused on supporting individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence, and I’ve also led prevention initiatives with teens around building healthy relationships.
My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and rooted in empowerment. I specialize in helping clients heal from trauma and abuse, navigate relationship challenges, manage stress, and build a stronger sense of self-worth and identity. Whether you're facing a major life transition or seeking deeper emotional balance, I’m here to support you on your journey.
Our families, culture, and life experiences shape who we are. I’m always deeply moved when individuals share their stories—no two are alike, but a common thread I see is the universal need for human connection.
My own story began in Japan and took a major turn when I moved to Spokane, WA. That transition was challenging. It’s never easy adjusting to a new place—whether you're a child, teen, or adult. Uprooting from one community and searching for another can feel overwhelming and isolating. When I chose to pursue graduate school in Seattle, I found myself not only growing as a therapist but also reconnecting with my own cultural roots. I was surprised and comforted to find such a strong and vibrant Japanese community here, and it reminded me how important it is to feel seen, understood, and connected.
I believe in honoring and celebrating our unique cultural identities—they’re essential to our sense of belonging and wellbeing. I strive to create a space where you feel safe to be fully yourself, and where your story is heard and valued.
